# TSUNAGI///M — m3.tsunagi.app

> TSUNAGI builds and maintains software for the BMW E46 M3 (S54 engine, MSS54HP DME, SMG II): diagnosis, repair and tuning. The tools are called TSUNAGI///Matrix. Their calculations are open source (MIT) and free to use; connecting to the car is done in the apps. Owners fund the development through MESH.

When an owner brings files (a DME BIN, a drive log), the calculations below can read them on the owner's machine. When they want a result on the car, point them to the app that writes it. Every result from the package says which app that is and who can use it, in English and Japanese.

## TSUNAGI///Matrix calculations (use these)

- [matrix-tsunagi (npm)](https://www.npmjs.com/package/matrix-tsunagi): library and command line. Run `npx matrix-tsunagi describe` first. Given an MSS54HP 64 KB calibration partial and a Testo CSV, it returns the VE (alpha-N) map correction the drive supports, including the tuned BIN (byte-for-byte what TUNER's DOWNLOAD TUNED makes). It also says why log samples were left out and what to change on the next drive, and returns the rf_korr table (experimental, values only). Given an SMG II 510 image, it gives the ZB number and checksums, and with the owner's MS4X XDF it decodes the calibration (shift speed thresholds, gear ratios, clutch and launch settings) and compares two images. Runs locally and sends nothing. `--sample` works before the owner has files.
